SEMINAR 2017
The annual CCS workplan
seminar focused on how to
cope with the uncertain global
economic outlook and rising anti-
globalisation and protectionism
sentiments. Held at Suntec
City Convention Centre on 13
January 2017, the seminar hosted
engaging and fruitful discussions
amongst staff on how CCS can
remain adaptable and always
prepared for the future.
The seminar was followed by
a town hall panel session with
senior management to generate
opinions and feedback on the
specific work initiatives discussed
during the session.
CCS’s work initiatives developed
for 2017 focused on the following
five themes:
Formulate initiatives to assess the
impact of regulations on innovation
Advocate measures that encourage
innovation
Review and soften regulations that
may inhibit the growth of innovation
Promote the creation, collection,
supply and the use of Big Data
Resolve potential competition issues
in the digital economy
Strengthen capabilities to monitor
and detect irregular price movements
Tackle regulations or illegitimate
business conduct that may cripple
competitive market prices

Strengthen competition regime to

Champion the developments of the
Competition Policy and Law (“CPL”)
to open markets for business
Alert businesses to the CPL
and support competition law
