WGC IN HO CHI MINH CITY,

Singapore chaired the 10th round

of the Regional Comprehensive

Economic Partnership (“RCEP”)

Working Group on Competition

(“WGC”). The Working Group

made good progress with clean

text achieved for Article 9 (Non-

Application of Dispute Settlement)

and Article 10 (Consultations).

NEGOTIATIONS FOR RCEP

COMPETITION CHAPTER IN

TANGERANG, INDONESIA

6-10 December 2016

The WGC made significant

progress at the 16th round of

negotiations for the RCEP, with

clean text achieved for almost

the entire Competition Chapter.

The substantial negotiations for

the Competition Chapter have

been completed.

SRI LANKA-SINGAPORE

FREE TRADE AGREEMENT

(“SLSFTA”) IN SINGAPORE

13-15 December 2016

During the third round of

negotiations for the SLSFTA, Sri

Lanka and Singapore reached a

principle agreement on the draft

text for competition. Both parties

are currently working towards

a conclusion of the bilateral

agreement by 2017.

VISIT TO THE PHILIPPINES

COMPETITION COMMISSION

IN MANILA

6 October 2016

CCS Chief Executive, Mr. Toh Han

Li visited the newly established

Philippines Competition

Commission (“PCC”) to meet with

their Chairman, Commissioners

and Directors. CCS was the first

foreign competition agency to

visit their new office. CCS and

PCC discussed experiences and

developments in their respective

competition regimes and possible

areas for cooperation.

APEC’S COMPETITION

POLICY AND LAW GROUP

(“CPLG”) MEETING IN NHA

TRANG, VIETNAM

26 February 2017

The issues discussed at the

APEC’s CPLG Meeting include

the CPLG 2017 work plan, the

CPLG database and selected

key developments in APEC

economies (including Singapore).

Singapore shared the findings of

the International Competition

Network’s Special Report 2016

on Government Advocacy and

Disruptive Innovations at the APEC

Economic Committee meeting.
