CCCS Economics Roundtable: Economics of Consumer Protection Policy
More than 30 participants gathered for the CCCS Economics Roundtable - Economics of Consumer Protection Policy on 5 October 2018. The Guest Speaker was Dr Janis Pappalardo, Assistant Director for Consumer Protection in the Bureau of Economics at the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") where she leads a staff of over twenty economists and research analysts and supervises economic analysis of all FTC consumer protection areas, including advertising, financial practices, privacy and data security.
Following a welcome and introduction by Mr Toh Han Li, Chief Executive of CCCS, Dr Janis provided an overview of the type of work economists at the FTC have done on consumer protection topics. The Roundtable Discussion was moderated by Ms Ng Ee Kia, Assistant Chief Executive (Policy, Business & Economics) of CCCS.
