Sharing Session by Professor Michael Katz: “Two-sided Platforms and Competition Policy”
On 30 October 2017, Professor Michael Katz visited CCS and delivered a seminar on “Two-sided Platforms and Competition Policy,” focusing on market definition and price structure in two-sided platforms. The talk was attended by staff from CCS and government agencies from the Community of Practice for Competition and Economic Regulations.
Professor Katz has taught at the University of California Berkeley since 1987. He holds the Sarin Chair in Strategy and Leadership and professorships in both the Economics Department and the Haas School of Business, where he is a member of the Economic Analysis and Policy Group. Professor Katz has served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economic Analysis in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice; Chief Economist at the Federal Communications Commission, where he received the Chairman's Special Achievement Award; and Assistant Professor of Economics at Princeton University.
